Redevelopment

The decade of the 1990’s saw the City of Roswell experience unprecedented commercial and population growth which has continued even to this day. Despite this growth, there are still areas within the City that are in desperate need of redevelopment and new alternative uses. To address these needs and issues, a Redevelopment Strategy for the City of Roswell was created by the city’s Redevelopment Task Force under the leadership and guidance of Councilmember Lori Henry.  The strategy was officially adopted by the Roswell Mayor and City Council in January 22, 2003 and is now in the process of being formally incorporated into the 2020 City of Roswell’s Comprehensive Plan.

Upon the adoption of the Redevelopment Strategy, the Mayor and City Council designated the commercial corridor of Alpharetta Highway, commonly referred to as the Midtown Roswell as the first redevelopment area. This study was completed in 2002 and later adopted in January 2003 and is now entered the implementation phase.

Following the completion and adoption of the Midtown Roswell Redevelopment Plan, the Mayor and City Council turned their sites east thereby creating the Holcomb Bridge East Redevelopment Strategy. Having started in the spring of 2004, this study is currently under development.
